150 films: International film festival “Molodist” announced the program

Screenings of the films “The Forgotten” by Daria Onyshchenko and “New Jerusalem” by Yarema Malashchuk, LGBT-themed films and others – what will be shown at the 49th Kiev international film festival “Molodist”, which will be held on August 22 – 30 in online and offline formats.

According to the organizers of the festival, the program includes 150 films from different countries of the world. Traditionally, “Molodist” will host three main competitive programs of student, short and full-length debuts.

“No major film festival was held in the summer of 2020. We also searched the forms a combination of online and offline, without, unfortunately, the festival is impossible. The red-green zone changes almost every day, our foreign guests are ready to come to Ukraine, but there are certain concerns, of course. Thanks to UKF support, we are preparing an online platform that will allow us to expand our locations”, – said Andrii Khalpakhchi, art director of the KIFF “Molodist”.

The main location of the festival will be the “Zhovten” cinema, which will show competitive and non-competitive programmes, including Ukrainian openings. “Cinema House” will host a series of festival screening. Also under the Peoples’ Friendship Arch the Opening and Awards Ceremonies will take place there, as well as “Molodist Teen Sсreen” children programme screenings, Ukrainian openings and special events.

All participants of the programs will compete for the Grand Prix – “Scythian deer” and a monetary award, as well as for the title of the best in their programs.

In addition to international screenings, several premieres of Ukrainian films will also be held as part of the “Molodist” film festival. In particular, the festival will present a new work by Roman Balayan “We Are Here…. We Are Near”, films by Serhiy Bukovsky “V. Silvestrov”, Vyacheslav Kryshtofovych “Forebodings“, Korniy Hrytsiuk “Train: Kyiv-War”, Cyprien Clement-Delmas and Igor Kosenko “Boy of war”, Sashko Protiah “Life outside CV”, Yarema Malashchuk and Roman Himey “New Jerusalem”, as well as Vladyslav Vasylchenko “Living on the Volcano.”

The art director of the festival “Molodist” is Andrii Khalpakhchi, the programme director is Ihor Shestopalov, and the programme coordinator are Bohdan Zhuk and Viktor Hlon.
